“Wow! This is the place!” — After two nights at this incredible bungalow, we could only say “WOW” This is a first class establishment, where every need is met, and everything is kept in perfect order and in spotless condition. The grounds are beautiful, and the location is convenient. The harshest critic would not be able to find fault. We would and will gladly return and highly recommend this inn to everyone
Super nice and clean , great view and great parking too. Good breakfast, though it could have been better, but then we cooked it ourselves right here in the kitchen! Best yet it is close to town and more, very close to the beach. We love it. I can’t wait to go back. We are giving it 5 stars because we think bungalow is great.
Pastoral Pampering with a Plus ++++ The Cambria Beach Bungalow is definitely a ‘destination’ for any traveler to the Cambria area. The operative word here is ‘Privacy’. The bungalow is set amongst the tall cypress trees just off Moonstone Beach Drive, walking distance to the beach and dining and just minutes from downtown Cambria. It’s only fifteen minutes to Hearst Castle and the other historic points of interest.
The rooms are as inviting as the locatoin, with fireplace, etc. The feeling of peace and welcome is cultivated by the innkeepers of the Blue Whale Inn , who seem to have anticipated every need of a vacationer. Most importantly, they are hosts who go out of their way to give each guest or couple a little extra pampering, while allowing them their privacy.
We enjoyed our stay so much in 2005 that we just had to go back, Jan 31-Feb 4, 2006. Cambria Beach Bungalow was as comfortable as our own home, but with no chores! We were as well taken care of as during our first visit. This won’t be our last!!
Cambria was settled in the early 1860’s with the towns center located in what is now East Village. By the 1880’s Cambria was the second largest town in the county, with a population of nearly 7000, and an active center of shipping.
In 1894, railroad lines were extended into San Luis Obispo from the south, resulting in the decline of coastal shipping and the isolation of Cambria. It was more than a quarter century before the first improved road to Cambria was completed.
In 1927, the area called Cambria Pines was subdivided into small residential lots. Today, tourism and real estate are the town’s main industries. Residents include artists and craftspeople, retirees, professionals ranchers and farmers.
It took almost a decade for Cambria to settle on a name. In 1869, after going by Slab town, Rosaville, San Simeon and Santa Rosa, the name Cambria was officially adopted.
The dramatic coastal drive on Highway 1 in northern San Luis Obispo County has earned its reputation as one of the most scenic drives in the world. This area is home to Ragged Point, San Simeon, Cambria, Harmony and Cayucos.
Cambria’s Moonstone Beach Area At the northwest corner of the county is Ragged Point, an untamed section of coastline. Just south is the Piedras Blancas (meaning “white rocks”) beach, where the 110′ Piedras Blanca Lighthouse, built in 1874, still stands as a beacon warning boaters and fishermen of the perilous reefs and rocky shores.
San Simeon Pier, built in 1878 by William Randolph Hearst’s father, George Hearst, continues to serve the area’s commercial and sports fisherman.
South of San Simeon, between a natural Monterey pine forest and the Pacific Ocean is the charming town of Cambria. This lovely village with a history of dairy farming is now regarded as an artist’s colony, and supports an impressive selection of gourmet restaurants, art galleries, ocean view inns, and one-of-a-kind shops. At the west end of town is Moonstone Beach, named for the shiny moonstones that were once found on the shore. A row of small hotels and bed-and breakfast inns overlook the beach.
Just south of Cambria, one-block-long Harmony (population 18) is home to a post office, wedding chapel, art shops, galleries, a restaurant/bar, and a winery. Further south from there, Cayucos Pier offers legal fishing even without a fishing license. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of swimmers brave 50-degree waters for the annual Polar Bear Dip in the Pacific. The event attracts both young and old participants.

How to Pronounce Cambria
An amusing controversy continues over the correct pronunciation of Cambria. Visitors and newcomers usually call it Came-Bri-a, while most residents agree on Camm-bria.

If booking is within 30 days of arrival, then payment in full is due at booking.
You will be required to provide a credit card for any additional charges that may arise (damage,additional unreported guests or excessive cleaning charges). The cleaning charge is determined by property and # of bedrooms used and is charged as an extra, payable along with rent balance due as noted above.
The tax rate is 9% and is charged on rent and extras.
No refunds will be given for early departure or fewer guests after the home is occupied.
Cancellation fee is $25. Refunds of the balance of deposit will be made with at least a 30 DAY NOTICE PRIOR to check in. Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to arrival MAY also be subject to fees equal to amount of first night’s rental and taxes, if unit cannot be re-rented. Pets: On pet friendly homes, there is an additional $25 cleaning fee. Pets shall not be left unattended in rental units. Pet kennels and pet sitters are located in town for your convenience.
If the property you’ve booked should become unavailable for any reason, Marguerite Nunn Vacation Rentals Vacation Rentals will try to relocate you to a similar property or refund your full deposit.
