Be prepared for some serious fun if you’re planning a visit to Clautiere Vineyard. This is a place that has described itself as “A winery like no other, where Edward Scissorhands meets the Mad Hatter at the Moulin Rouge!”
The creative forces behind Clautiere Vineyard are Claudine Blackwell and Terry Brady. Between them, they boast résumé listings as varied as accountant, restaurant owners, fashion designer, welder, landscape designer and, lately, winemakers. Since moving up to Paso Robles in July 1999, the couple has passionately rejuvenated and transformed a local ranch into a place of vibrant color and energy. The old farmhouse boasts a wild tasting room, gift shop, commercial kitchen and a theater space suited for special events. Outside are metal sculptures and 230 feet of metal fencing that Claudine has designed and welded to complete the ambiance.
The distinctive tasting room at Clautiere Vineyard is known to wine-lovers everywhere as a Paso Robles destination to relax, let your hair down and have a little fun with the wine-tasting experience. The tasting room has vibrant colors and patterns, winding garden paths, rock circles, metal sculptures, magical mosaic cubes and spheres. Reservations are required (or if your are a wine club member) for the Clautiere Playroom. Where you are encouraged to join the fun by selecting a brightly colored wig or hat to wear for photo ops after experiencing the equally bold and beautiful current release wines. Experience the fun side of Wine. Visit Clautiere for a wine & gourmet cheese pairing plus excellent customer service in a fun atmosphere. The colorful décor and famous “Playroom” has a magical way of bringing out the “Child Heart” in everyone.
